Like it Mr C! It would seem we are going full circle, or that consumerism is beginning to eat itself, or whatever the hifalutin' catchphrase is these days (sure there'll be a catch-all phrase for every catchphrase soon enough!)

In terms of consumerism being simplified I do remember when things were a lot simpler than they became. The days when not every family had a car; when there were only two shops to choose from in the village; when there was only one place to make your phone calls -the large red box at the end of the street.

I guess you can't stop the juggernaut of progress. But people can make its path take different routes. By supplying more innovation and by demanding more choice. And if we can't explain what's behind that choice (and I don't understand your colleague's choice either!) then so much the better!

I do also remember brands being called 'makes'. Thanks for the blinding flash of nostalgia and thanks for reminding me of my age!
